It has become a tradition at My Shining Star to support as many families as we possibly can in hospital at Christmas time!
Every year, we dress as elves and head to the Royal Marsden in Sutton- armed with hundreds of gifts for children with cancer that are spending Christmas in hospital.
We provide festive afternoon teas (so the parents can get something to eat at no cost to them- as well as tempting the appetite of the children), we speak to the families directly to ascertain their needs and how we can help, we take gift vouchers for the older children and most of all- we give emotional support. This is heart breaking but an experience we look forward to every year.
In 2021 alone, we donated over 3000 toys and gifts with the support of the Bluewater Giving Tree and the overwhelming kindness of the general public. This allowed us to support a massive FOURTEEN HOSPITALS last year alone. It makes a difference that is almost impossible to put into words.
